Dear patients,
I am writing to let you know that I am leaving HealthSource Medical Clinic. I am pleased to announce that another physician, Dr. Dan Cojocaru, will be taking over the practice starting January 1, 2021. Over the next 2 months, we will share the practice in order to allow a smooth transition. I am very happy that Dr. Cojocaru is joining the HealthSource team. He is a graduate of St. Michael’s Hospital (like me!) and brings a great deal of enthusiasm and knowledge to the clinic. You will see from his letter that he enjoys all types of medicine, and he is especially excited to work in a practice that is brimming with young kids and babies.
I am sad to leave. It has been my pleasure and privilege to work with you. Family medicine is built on the relationships between practitioners and patients; and I have enjoyed building relationships with each of you over the past 8 years. I have had the opportunity to be involved in your lives at their most challenging and also most rewarding times: I have seen you through births, deaths, changes of jobs, retirements, beginnings and ends of relationships and transitions. I thank you for trusting me to be there during these journeys. I have made changes through my career with the goals of providing quality medical care and improving the balance in my own life. This change is no exception. While change is hard, we all need this movement. You need a doctor that can shoulder the many different roles and obligations of a family doctor, and I need a role that allows me to balance my medical career with other aspects of my life.
As for me, I have decided that it is time for me to leave primary care, which has been my main vocation for the past 16 years. I will be working in a consulting role, and I will not carry a practice of my own. Primary care is fulfilling, but it is also very demanding. I am currently not able to tolerate all of the demands. My energy is waning, and I cannot offer the quality of care you deserve.
HealthSource Medical Clinic is my favourite place that I have worked, and I am sure that Dr. Cojocaru will similarly enjoy it. I hope that you will join me in welcoming him to the practice.
